PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTION


 

Class Information

The Alliance Française of Tampa offers high-quality French language classes year round. We have been offering French classes in Tampa - Hillsborough county  area for more than 20 years.  Classes run in eight-week sessions, two hours per week.  Class size is 4 to 8 students.

Please specify your level of French. 

All classes follow a conversational method: listen, repeat, respond, complete written exercises.

group Classes
Levels of Classes:
Beginning Level 1 - Introduction to the sounds of the language and pronunciation. Some present tense verbs are used in simple expressions, such as what to say when you meet someone. Concepts of Masculine or Feminine, how to use certain prepositions.
Beginning Level 2 - Sentence constructions, ability to answer simple questions, the use of demonstrative and possessive adjectives, how to form questions and respond in the negative. More vocabulary is introduced, including irregular verbs.
Beginning Level 3 - Introduction of the Passé Composé and Imparfait. Use of "en" and "y." Additional vocabulary plus comparatives and superlatives.
Intermediate LevelsTelephone interview required if student has not taken Beginning Level classes with us.
Intermediate Level 1 - Brief review of Beginning Levels content. Introduction of the future and conditional tenses, increased vocabulary.  In-depth review of the present and past tenses in simple conversation. Some dictation and written assignments, building up a vocabulary.
Intermediate Level 2 - Continued use of future and conditional verb tenses in conversation. Introduction to the subjunctive verb tense.   How-to topics, such as telephone use, expressions  of sympathy and congratulations, asking and receiving directions, how to rent a car, request a train ticket, etc.
Intermediate Level 3 - Vocabulary, additional writing practice, completing sentences using sequence of verb tenses. Using prepositions correctly (pour, dans, en jusqu'a, etc.). Short presentations required.
Advanced Conversation  - Group interaction motivated by instructor topics and assignments, including grammar and vocabulary review as required.  Guaranteed to increase the students vocabulary and skill in oral communication.  Short presentations required.

Writing Class
Emphasizes written skills, learning through dictation, essays, letter writing
 – guaranteed to expand grammatical skills.

Private Classes
One-on-one to fit your level and needs.
Minimum of 4 hours, payable in groups of 4 or 8 hours.  Meet at your place of business or home if desired.  For remote locations, there will
be a transporta -tion fee of $10.  Rate is $ 50 an hour ;checks are always payable to          Alliance Francaise of Tampa Inc.      

Children's classes
French for children
Introductory classes to teach students the sounds of the language and begin conversational skills.
Fun French for Children
Ages 5-12—learn through songs and games.  Only one hour a week.

Telephone Private French Lessons
Take advantage of 4 private lessons of thirty minutes each by phone with an experienced, native speaker of French.  These private lessons are setup to fit your schedule between 7 AM and 10 PM and can be made from home, work, or anywhere you are, even out of town.
Telephone skills and understanding are critical for those doing business with French speaking companies.  In addition, these sessions will aid comprehension levels and banish fear of speaking French on the phone. Professional teachers will stage subject matter and content to fit student's needs.
